Mexican Peso Touches 24-Month High as USD/MXN Dips Below 17.00

USD/MXN traded below 17.00 for the first time in 24 months before buyers stepped in, while Banxico minutes remain in focus.

USD/MXN printed a fresh 24-month low under 17.00, reflecting a stronger Mexican peso, before paring the move and reclaiming the 17.00 handle as buyers emerged.

US data weighed on the dollar, with consumer sentiment and retail sales among the releases cited. The greenback’s softness helped lift the peso earlier in the session.

Traders are now watching the Banxico minutes for signals on the central bank’s policy path.
