Euro slips back under 1.1600 as dollar steadies

EUR/USD pulled back from an intraday high of 1.1614 to trade near 1.1580 on Monday as US dollar selling pressure eased.

EURUSD

The euro gave up part of its earlier advance on Monday after the US dollar found some footing. EUR/USD was changing hands around 1.1580, back below the 1.1600 level.

The pair had touched an intraday high of 1.1614 earlier in the session, its strongest level since June, before trimming gains.

The pullback came as dollar selling pressure showed signs of stabilization following a softer start to the week.

The move left the common currency below the 1.1600 handle after briefly trading above it earlier in the session.
