The U.S. Dollar Index fell 0.86% on Wednesday, settling just beneath 98.80. That was its weakest close since mid-May, and it finished right at the session low.

The driver was not a central bank communication, according to the post. Attention instead turned to the Treasury, with the index described as answering to the Treasury rather than the Fed.

The late-session weakness suggests selling pressure carried through the close.
