The Dollar Index had absorbed a weaker payroll contraction on August 7, a cooler consumer price reading on August 12, and a flat producer price reading on August 13 without losing its range. Friday’s data finally broke that range, according to the note.
The break came after four consecutive soft US data points, marking the first time the index surrendered its established range. The post did not identify the specific Friday report.
