CMC Markets Rebrands Institutional Business After Expanding Prime Services
CMC Markets is retiring the CMC Connect name and folding its institutional business into the group's main brand, saying services for existing clients and partners will not change.
CMC Markets is rebranding its institutional division as CMC Markets Institutional, retiring the CMC Connect name as the group brings its institutional services under its main brand. The London-based broker said the change follows an expansion of its institutional and business-to-business operations.
The rebranded unit will cover trading, investing and wealth solutions, spanning multi-asset liquidity, trading technology, investment infrastructure and access to public and private markets. Its client base includes banks, brokerages, family offices, hedge funds and dealing desks. CMC Markets stated that the renaming will not affect the services available to existing institutional clients and partners.
Prime Services push
CMC Connect was introduced in January 2021 to set the institutional business apart from the company's retail offering. At the time, the firm said the move reflected greater investment in institutional services, including liquidity provision, pricing and execution. Alongside multi-asset liquidity, the division offers API connectivity and white-label solutions that let partners deliver trading through their own platforms. The former CMC Connect website reported more than 150 institutional partners.
In May 2026, CMC Markets launched Prime Services capabilities through CMC Connect, comprising cash and synthetic prime brokerage, financing, multi-asset execution and post-trade support. That offering provides access to cash equities, exchange-traded funds and synthetic single-stock exposure through direct market access and smart order routing.
The rebrand lands after a period of growth for the group. In July, CMC Markets reported record client assets of £46.3 billion, and the company also announced a trading technology partnership with Westpac in Australia aimed at widening its customer base.
