BitBox Fixes Two Critical Bitcoin Wallet Firmware Vulnerabilities

BitBox has patched two serious firmware vulnerabilities in its Bitcoin wallets, including a phishing-related flaw that could have enabled malicious firmware installation and a pre-setup arbitrary code execution issue.

BitBox has resolved two serious security flaws found in the firmware of its Bitcoin wallets. The issues were identified during internal audits that used AI tools.

One vulnerability could have been exploited through a successful phishing attack, potentially allowing malicious firmware to be installed and putting user funds at risk. The second flaw could have enabled arbitrary code execution on a device that had not yet completed setup.

The company said it has not recorded any cases of exploitation or theft related to the vulnerabilities. Users are advised to update to firmware version 9.26.5, which contains the fixes.
