The Australian dollar strengthened against the US dollar on Wednesday, gaining more than 0.56%. The move came as the US currency registered losses linked to a US Treasury bond buyback.
Hawkish minutes from the Federal Reserve's July meeting were released, but their supportive signal for the dollar was offset by the buyback flow. As a result, AUD/USD traded higher on the day.
