Brokers: licences checked against the official registers

Every regulator in the Brokers directory now has its own page — the brokers it licenses, their licence numbers and a direct link to the official register. A licence we have verified says so, with the date. Plus clear labels for paid placement and four widgets for brokers.

A page per regulator

A licence number on its own tells you little unless you know who issued it and where to look it up. The directory now has a page for each regulator — the FCA, ASIC, CySEC, BaFin, SEBI, MAS and more than forty others — listing the brokers it licenses with their licence numbers.

Where the regulator runs a public register, the page has a Check a licence yourself block with a direct link to it. Not every regulator publishes a searchable register, so the link isn't there for all of them. For the major regulators the page also explains what their licence actually protects.

What "checked" means

We call a licence checked only when two things are on file: a link to that licence's own entry in the official register — not to the register's front page — and the date we looked. Licence tables on broker profiles and regulator pages now say how many licences are checked and when they were last checked. At launch that was 149 of the 585 licences in the directory; the rest are shown without the mark until we get to them.

Paid placement, labelled

A featured listing used to lift a broker in the default order without saying so. Now the card and the profile carry a visible label — Sponsored when the placement is paid, Featured when it is an editorial pick — and the default sort is named Featured instead of Top rated, because it was never a pure ranking by TW Score.

For brokers

Brokers in the directory get a For brokers section in the widgets gallery, with four embeds for their own site:

  • TW Score badge — the score, as announced on 18 August;
  • Regulation badge — licences with their numbers, and how many are checked against the register;
  • Reviews showcase — the rating and the latest published reviews;
  • Review collector — a "rate us" button that leads to the review form.

The company dashboard now shows Visits to your website: how many people went from TradersWeek to the broker's site over the last 30 days, against the 30 before. And each broker gets an invitation link to the review form to share with clients.

The directory, including the regulator pages, is in English only.
