Qantas has signed a binding agreement to sell its 33.32% stake in Jetstar Japan to Japan Airlines through a share buyback, with the deal set to close by June 2027 pending regulatory approvals.

Qantas and Japan Airlines have entered into a binding agreement for Jetstar Japan to buy back Qantas' 33.32% equity interest. The divestment will see Qantas fully exit the low-cost carrier joint venture by June 2027, subject to obtaining all necessary regulatory clearances.
The transaction marks the unwinding of Qantas' stake in the Japanese budget airline, which it co-founded with JAL. No financial terms were disclosed.
