Qantas to Gain A$1.15B from Jetstar Japan Buyback and Rebrand

Qantas expects a A$1.15 billion gain, primarily in fiscal 2027, from its Jetstar Japan share buyback, with the low-cost carrier set to rebrand after the divestment.

QAN

Qantas announced that the planned buyback of shares in Jetstar Japan is valued at JPY 8.20 billion. The transaction will result in a gain of approximately A$1,151 million, the bulk of which is anticipated in fiscal year 2027.

Following the divestment, Jetstar Japan will undergo a rebranding. The entire transition process is expected to be completed by June 2027.

The move marks a strategic shift for the Australian airline as it restructures its Japanese operations.
