Nissan Posts Surprise Q1 Profit, Maintains Full-Year Outlook
Nissan reported a net income of 3.76 billion yen in the first quarter of fiscal 2026, swinging from an expected loss, while operating income soared past estimates. The automaker left its full-year profit and dividend forecasts unchanged.
Nissan defied quarterly loss forecasts in fiscal Q1 2026, booking net income of 3.76 billion yen against consensus estimates of a loss of 8.85 billion yen. Operating income reached 77.89 billion yen, far exceeding the 6.01 billion yen analysts had anticipated.
Looking ahead, the company held its full-year net income outlook at 20.00 billion yen, which trails the average analyst estimate of 31.98 billion yen. Nissan also reiterated its forecast for operating income of 200.00 billion yen, above the 152.24 billion yen consensus. The dividend payout for the year is still seen at zero.
Full-year net sales are projected at 13.00 trillion yen, slightly above the estimate of 12.64 trillion yen. The automaker sees global retail sales of 3.15 million vehicles for the fiscal year ending March 2027, compared to the 3.3 million vehicles expected by the market.
