Japan PM condemns Putin visit to disputed Kuril island
Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi condemned Vladimir Putin's visit to Iturup, one of the four disputed Kuril Islands, calling it incompatible with Japan's position.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has strongly condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Iturup, also known as Etorofu, one of the four disputed Kuril Islands claimed by Japan.
Takaichi said the visit was incompatible with Japan’s position that the Northern Territories are inherently Japanese territory, and she called it “absolutely unacceptable”.
