IBM CEO Arvind Krishna stated that the company’s quantum computing investments will start to noticeably impact revenue and profitability around 2028 or 2029. He estimated that the technology could create $1 trillion in value by the end of the 2030s.

Krishna acknowledged that the timeline for commercialization remains debated due to high error rates, hardware complexity, and scaling challenges. However, he noted that IBM is seeing progress toward practical applications.
