Ecopetrol conducted exploration activities on eight natural gas fields during the first half of 2026, according to a company statement. Three of the eight fields were successfully identified as productive.
The company is still awaiting a required license from the United States to begin natural gas exports to Venezuela. No timeline was given for the approval.
Additionally, executive Hurtado clarified that Ecopetrol currently has no intention of divesting its Permian Basin operations in the United States.
