Caterpillar delivered strong second-quarter results, with adjusted earnings per share of $8.17, well above the $6.17 estimate. Revenue reached $20.54 billion, driven by a Machinery, Power & Energy segment that generated $19.58 billion, also beating forecasts.

The company's order backlog surged by $34.6 billion during Q2, a $9.4 billion increase from the first quarter. For fiscal 2026, management now sees sales growing in the mid-to-high teens percentage range, an upgrade from the prior low-double-digit outlook.

Caterpillar expects tariff-related costs of about $2.2 billion for the year, narrowing its previous estimate of $2.2–2.4 billion. However, the adjusted operating profit margin is projected near the bottom of the company’s target range.
