XTB Uses Chile as Testing Ground Again, Launches Spot Crypto with 46 Assets

XTB launched spot cryptocurrency trading in Chile with 46 assets, its first non-European rollout, and plans to expand the product to Europe. The Warsaw-listed broker sees Chile as a test market.

XTB has introduced spot cryptocurrency trading in Chile, marking the first time the Warsaw-listed broker has rolled out the product outside Europe. The initial line-up includes 46 crypto assets, with plans to broaden the selection over time. Chilean clients can trade around the clock with a minimum transaction value of $2, the company said.

Until now, XTB clients in Chile could only gain crypto exposure through CFDs or exchange-traded notes. The spot launch follows the debut of XTB's AI-powered analytical chat in Chile two weeks earlier, a tool fed with market data from LSEG and Reuters. The close timing reinforces Chile's role as XTB's preferred launchpad for new products before wider international release.

XTB received a securities agent licence from Chile's Financial Market Commission in February 2025, its first regulatory approval in Latin America. CEO Omar Arnaout said: "In the coming months, we plan to expand this offering to European markets."

The company sees particularly strong demand for crypto among younger investors, citing a 2024 Polish Association of Individual Investors survey in which 22% of Polish investors reported holding crypto assets, rising to 31.4% among 18-to-25-year-olds. Adding spot crypto is part of XTB's push to build a European investment "super app," alongside stocks, ETFs, investment plans, retirement accounts and a multi-currency eWallet.

From Chile to Europe

XTB's spot crypto ambitions first surfaced in early 2025, when it began recruiting a Head of Crypto. The European rollout has been tied to MiCA implementation. After a period of political uncertainty in Poland, XTB received authorisation in Cyprus in late 2025 and launched spot crypto trading there in the first half of 2026, offering more than 35 assets. Spain is next in line, with a launch expected before the end of 2026.

Poland, XTB's home market, remains complicated. Domestic legislation needed to implement MiCA has not been adopted; President Karol Nawrocki vetoed successive crypto-asset bills in December 2025, February 2026 and June 2026. XTB says it still wants to offer the service under Polish regulations, but could fall back on its MiCA-licensed Cypriot subsidiary to serve Polish clients cross-border. For now, Polish investors can only access crypto through XTB's CFDs and ETNs.
