WSJ Investigation Exposes North Korea's Secret US IT Workforce
The Wall Street Journal reports that North Korean workers used US intermediaries and AI tools to apply to more than 1,000 American companies in three months.
The Wall Street Journal has published an investigation, Infiltrated: North Korea’s Secret U.S. Workforce, detailing a covert network of North Korean workers inside American companies.
According to the report, the FBI identified thousands of such applicants across the United States. One tracked group sent applications to more than 1,000 companies over three months, using AI for cover letters, resumes, interview preparation, and face substitution.
American intermediaries play a key role: corporate laptops remain in the U.S. while North Korean workers connect to them remotely.
