Weekend Market Update: Equities Edge Higher, Oil Tumbles
Global stock indices posted modest gains over the weekend, while crude oil suffered a sharp decline. The dollar softened slightly against the euro, and precious metals were mixed.

Global equity markets ended the weekend in positive territory, with the Nasdaq leading gains up 0.77% to 28,384. The DAX added 0.62% to 25,797, the Dow rose 0.46% to 52,613, and the FTSE gained 0.36% to 10,895. The Hang Seng was nearly flat, inching up just 0.04% to 25,964.
In currencies, EURUSD edged 0.16% higher to 11548, reflecting a slightly weaker dollar.
Commodity markets diverged sharply. Gold gained 0.57% to 4,066, while silver slipped 0.07% to 5,757. US crude oil plunged 6.19% to 8,020, marking the most significant move of the session.
