Wall Street Trading Booms on Crypto Exchanges as MEXC Volume Jumps 3,000%

MEXC's average daily stock futures volume across Asia jumped 3,308% QoQ and daily trader numbers rose 386%, extending the boom in leveraged TradFi products on crypto exchanges.

Cryptocurrency exchange MEXC said Tuesday that its average daily stock futures volume across Asia jumped 3,308% quarter over quarter, while daily trader numbers rose 386% over the same period. The exchange points to rising demand on crypto venues for leveraged exposure to stocks and commodities.

The figures appear in The Cross Asset Shift, a report by Blockworks Research funded by MEXC Ventures. Blockworks said the sponsor may have contributed to the content but researchers retained editorial control. MEXC did not disclose underlying volumes or details of the survey of Asian traders used in the report.

Asia futures growth

Futures activity kept building into the current quarter through August. MEXC put the further gain in average daily stock futures volume in Asia at 102% from Q2, with users up 51%. Southeast Asia drove the earlier surge, posting a 6,648% jump in volume and a 399% rise in daily users in Q2, while East Asia recorded 1,957% volume growth and a 465% user increase. The report does not state the base levels behind those percentages.

Spot trading of tokenized stocks grew from a smaller base. In Southeast Asia, average daily stock spot volume rose 348% in Q2 and a further 87% in the period through August, with daily users up 153% and 159%, respectively.

Derivatives data and market share

Industry-wide, centralized exchange futures tied to real-world assets, foreign exchange and tokenized stocks approached $400 billion in July, equal to more than 12% of total monthly futures activity, according to the research. The equivalent spot market stayed below 2%, with combined volume falling to about $9.5 billion in July from more than $30 billion in October 2025.

Binance led tokenized stock futures, while MEXC and BingX each accounted for roughly 20% of that segment. BingX launched its TradFi futures suite in January with contracts on more than 50 underlying assets. MEXC ranked fourth in tokenized stock spot volume in July at $427 million, behind Bybit, Gate and Binance. Its separate RealStocks service offers exposure to US shares, although MEXC has not publicly named the intermediary handling those transactions.

Precious metals were the earlier cross-asset derivatives to reach scale. Open interest in precious metal perpetuals peaked at $1.98 billion in May and stood at $1.69 billion at the end of June, equal to 36.2% of total TradFi perpetual open interest. US stock futures overtook precious metals by open interest in June. MEXC's PAX Gold market was more evenly balanced from January through July, with $2.02 billion in spot volume and $2.03 billion in futures volume.

The related survey found that 87.2% of Asian respondents planned to increase their traditional-asset trading through centralized exchanges, and 83.9% already used a CEX as their primary crypto trading venue. CEO Vugar Usi said Asian investors want one funded account to cover more of their trading, with stablecoin balances letting them move between crypto, gold, equities and indices without funding a separate brokerage account. The report gives no sample size or fieldwork dates.

Usi described much of the current futures demand as tactical and event-driven and said he expects activity to shift into spot as liquidity improves. MEXC also entered July without a Markets in Crypto-Assets license and remained on Hong Kong's regulator warning list.
