VT Markets Joins Broker Rush Into 24/7 Gold CFDs

VT Markets introduced XAUUSD247, a round-the-clock gold CFD with one-ounce contracts and leverage up to 100:1, joining rivals offering weekend gold trading.

VT Markets said Wednesday it has launched XAUUSD247, a gold CFD available for trading 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The product, based on a one-ounce contract, is offered to eligible clients through MetaTrader 5 and the VT Markets App, with WebTrader also listed on the product page.

The new contract has a minimum size of one ounce, compared with 100 ounces for the broker’s standard XAUUSD contract. Maximum leverage starts at 100:1 and decreases as the size of an open position rises. VT Markets advertises weekday spreads from 15 points and weekend spreads from 40 points, subject to market conditions, putting the weekend minimum at roughly 2.67 times the weekday level. The product page’s comparison table separately displays a spread from 20 points, and the announcement does not explain the discrepancy.

No separate commission is charged across account types, while overnight swaps still apply. For hedged positions, the broker uses single-sided margin, calculating margin on the larger side of a long/short exposure rather than both. VT Markets also applies tiered leverage and account-level exposure limits of 1,000 lots net and 2,000 lots gross; accounts move to close-only mode after hitting either threshold.

Growing list of weekend gold products

VT Markets joins a wave of brokers and liquidity providers that have added continuous gold trading during 2026. LMAX Group launched gold on its perpetual futures platform in February, offering institutional clients margin-based XAU/USD exposure with no expiry. Scope Prime completed the rollout of DIGIXAU, an institutional gold CFD with a continuous order book during evenings and weekends, in March. CMC Markets followed in April with Gold Weekend for CFD and spread betting clients, without disclosing spreads or margin requirements at launch.

In June, Match-Prime introduced continuous CFDs on gold, silver, oil and two US equity indices, with leverage set at 5:1 and a $1 million cap on net open positions. Unlike those wholesale-oriented offerings, VT Markets is selling its contract directly to retail clients, with a smaller one-ounce size and higher leverage of up to 100:1.

Because traditional spot and futures markets do not trade continuously through Saturday and Sunday, weekend CFD pricing can vary by provider and is not anchored to an open underlying venue. Match-Prime has said it shifts to an internal price discovery mechanism when primary venues close, using price bands and a decay function. VT Markets did not explain in Wednesday’s announcement how XAUUSD247 prices are generated when gold markets are closed, though its higher advertised weekend spread points to thinner liquidity outside standard trading hours. The broker noted that availability, spreads, leverage and exposure limits may differ by region and market conditions.
