USDC is Now Available on Stellar

Mexican crypto exchange Bitso has enabled USDC transfers over the Stellar network, offering near-instant settlement and sub-cent fees, with direct USDC issuance by Circle.

Latin American cryptocurrency exchange Bitso has added support for USDC transfers over the Stellar blockchain, the company announced. The integration gives Bitso users an additional network option for moving USD Coin (USDC), joining existing support for Ethereum, Solana, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum and Avalanche.

Stellar is a blockchain designed specifically for payments and cross-border transfers, offering transaction finality in 3–5 seconds and average fees of about $0.0001 per transaction, regardless of the amount moved. Unlike wrapped or bridged tokens, the USDC available on Stellar is issued natively by Circle, the same entity behind USDC on Ethereum. Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) is also live on Stellar, allowing USDC to move seamlessly between Stellar and 23 other blockchains.

The network has become a backbone for financial institutions, fintechs and remittance platforms operating in emerging markets across Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia, according to Bitso. By adding Stellar, Bitso users can send USDC directly to other Stellar-based wallets, exchanges or DeFi protocols without intermediaries.

Earning Yield on USDC

Bitso also reminded users of its “Earnings” feature, which allows holders of USDC to earn up to 3.1% annualized yield through Treasury bonds, with rates scaling by balance. Returns are distributed weekly and require no external wallets or protocol interactions.

To use the new network, Bitso customers open the app, select Transfer, choose “Deposit” or “Send,” pick USDC as the asset, and select Stellar from the network list. The company advises double-checking wallet addresses before confirming, as cryptocurrency transfers are irreversible.
