US July PPI Cools to 4.7%, Below 4.9% Forecast
US producer price inflation for July came in at 4.7% year-over-year, under the 4.9% consensus, while core PPI matched expectations at 4.2%.
Headline producer price inflation in the US slowed to 4.7% year-over-year in July, compared with a 4.9% expected reading. Core PPI, which excludes food and energy, rose 4.2%, matching forecasts.
On a monthly basis, PPI was unchanged at 0.0%. That was the first flat monthly print since June 2025.
The softer inflation data have further reduced market pricing for additional rate hikes.
