US Inflation Data Meets Expectations in July
Headline CPI rose 0.1% month-over-month and core CPI increased 0.2%, both in line with forecasts. Annual inflation eased to 3.4%.
The US consumer price index gained 0.1% in July from the previous month, matching the median estimate. On an annual basis, headline inflation slowed to 3.4% from 3.5%, also in line with expectations.
Core CPI, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.2% month-over-month, aligning with forecasts. The annual core rate edged down to 2.5% from 2.6%.
The report shows continued moderation in underlying price pressures, though inflation remains above the Federal Reserve's 2% target.
