US crude inventories surge 17.4 million barrels, far above forecasts
US crude stocks rose 17.423 million barrels last week, versus expectations for a 1.8 million-barrel draw. Cushing inventories also increased.

US commercial crude inventories rose by 17.423 million barrels, sharply above the consensus forecast for a 1.8 million-barrel decline. Cushing, Oklahoma storage added 1.611 million barrels over the same period.
Gasoline inventories fell by 968,000 barrels, while distillate stocks were nearly unchanged. The data point to a much looser crude market than analysts had anticipated.
