US and China Agree to Continue Trade and AI Dialogue
Washington and Beijing signalled progress after trade and AI discussions, with plans for follow-up talks and an expanded Board of Trade.
US and Chinese officials pointed to constructive progress after their latest engagement on trade and artificial intelligence. Treasury Secretary Bessent described the talks as very successful, and the two sides agreed to meet again for further AI dialogue.
USTR Greer said the US-China Board of Trade has been operationalized, with teams from both countries continuing to work on it. Washington also proposed a notification mechanism between the two countries.
Potential areas of focus were outlined: China could include consumer goods and low-tech items, while the US could include energy products, agricultural goods and potentially medical devices. The discussions signal continued cooperation on trade and AI.
