US Central Command Reports 59 Vessels Redirected in Iran Blockade

U.S. forces have redirected 59 commercial vessels, disabled three and boarded two as part of the 'Steel Wall' blockade against Iran, according to U.S. Central Command.

U.S. Central Command said that as of Aug. 12 its forces had redirected 59 commercial vessels while enforcing the 'Steel Wall' blockade against Iran. Three vessels were disabled and two were boarded to ensure compliance.

The command also said an F/A-18 fighter jet launched from the flight deck of the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) while the carrier was operating in regional waters in support of the blockade.

The update highlights the operational scope of the enforcement effort, including direct intervention with commercial shipping in the region.
