Trezor User Loses Savings to Phishing Ad on Google

A Trezor wallet owner reported losing all funds after entering their seed phrase on a fake site promoted via Google search ads. The hardware maker is working to take down the malicious page and reiterated the warning never to expose a seed phrase online.

A Trezor user claims to have lost their entire crypto savings after clicking a phishing link that appeared as the top result in Google search for “Trezor wallet.” The spoofed site asked for the victim's seed phrase, and once entered, attackers gained full access to the wallet. The exact amount stolen was not disclosed.

Online backlash quickly followed, with many blaming Google for running phishing ads. Critics called the tech giant an accomplice to fraud, pointing to ongoing issues with malicious search promotions bypassing review systems.

Trezor’s team confirmed they are working to have the fake page removed and issued a fresh warning: “Never enter your seed phrase on any website or online form.” The incident underscores the persistent risk of phishing even when using hardware wallets.
