Spreadex Sports Expands UK Racing Sponsorship to 22 Courses

Spreadex Sports has expanded its Starting Stalls sponsorship from 20 to 22 racecourses for the 2026 flat season, bucking a trend of bookmakers cutting back on racing partnerships.

Spreadex Sports, the UK-based sports spread betting operator, has announced an expansion of its horse racing sponsorship programme, increasing its Starting Stalls branding presence from 20 to 22 racecourses across the UK and Scotland for the 2026 summer flat season. The new deal takes effect immediately.

The expanded agreement covers 17 venues in England, two in Wales and three in Scotland. The move reinforces Spreadex's position as one of the most visible commercial partners in British racing at a time when several major bookmakers have ended long-standing racing partnerships, citing rising operating costs and the impact of the Remote Gaming Duty increase.

Commenting on the decision, Andy MacKenzie, Head of Marketing at Spreadex Ltd, said that horse racing is central to the company's offering and that expanding the partnership to 22 courses reflects the value the firm places on the sport and the relationships built with racecourses nationwide. He noted that Spreadex's clients are among the most knowledgeable racing fans in the UK.

The announcement drew supportive statements from several racecourse groups. David Leyden Dunbar, Director of Commercial Strategy and Partnerships at Arena Racing Company (ARC), highlighted the good relationship with Spreadex, which has been an ARC partner since 2022. Dan Glavin, Betting Partnerships Manager at The Jockey Club, welcomed the renewed backing for flat fixtures at Nottingham and Carlisle. Representatives from Hamilton Park, Musselburgh, Catterick and Newbury also expressed appreciation for the continued partnership.

A Commitment to Racing at a Critical Moment

British horse racing generates over £8 billion in annual betting turnover. Despite the sport's popularity, it has faced commercial headwinds as several large operators have scaled back sponsorship activity. Spreadex's move runs counter to that trend.

Starting Stalls sponsorship offers high-visibility branding at the most-watched moment of each race, providing national exposure throughout the summer flat season across key fixtures and regional meetings. Spreadex Sports has offered spread betting on horse racing since its founding in 1999, including products such as Race Indices, Winning Favourites, Distances and Match Bets, which cater to dedicated racing enthusiasts seeking an alternative to traditional fixed-odds betting.
