Saudi Official: Iraq Militias, Houthis Plan Imminent Attacks Under Iran’s Guidance
A Saudi official has warned that multiple intelligence reports point to impending strikes on the kingdom by Iran-aligned Iraqi militias and Houthi forces, even as Riyadh reports progress in de-escalation talks.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the reports are “shocking” because the Saudi government is actively pursuing a peaceful resolution and de-escalation with regional actors.
The intelligence indicates that Iraqi militia groups are coordinating with Yemen’s Houthi movement under the direction of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to prepare imminent attacks on Saudi territory.
Despite the threat assessment, the official noted that ongoing negotiations appear to be moving in the right direction, suggesting a possible diplomatic off-ramp. No further details on the timing or nature of the planned attacks were provided.
