Saudi Aramco Diverts Crude via Pipeline as Hormuz Shipping Plunges

Saudi Aramco is using its East-West Pipeline to bypass the Strait of Hormuz after an Iran-related crisis reduced transit traffic to just a tenth of pre-conflict levels, according to CEO Amin Nasser.

Saudi Aramco is routing crude oil around the Strait of Hormuz through its East-West Pipeline, CEO Amin Nasser stated on Tuesday. The move comes as an Iran-related crisis has severely disrupted maritime traffic in the strait.

Shipping volumes through the critical chokepoint have fallen to a tenth of pre-conflict levels, Nasser added. The pipeline provides an alternative export route to the Red Sea, mitigating the immediate logistical impact.

The statement underscores the ongoing geopolitical risks to global energy supply chains, with operators adapting to avoid the tense waterway.
