Robinhood Opens UK Crypto Trading via Bitstamp, 50+ Assets

Robinhood has begun rolling out crypto trading to eligible UK customers through Bitstamp UK, offering more than 50 digital assets as it expands beyond equities into an all-in-one investment platform.

Robinhood has started rolling out cryptocurrency trading to eligible UK customers through its main investing app, adding more than 50 digital assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and HYPE to an existing UK lineup of stocks and shares ISAs, equities, options and futures.

The service is powered by Bitstamp UK Ltd, the FCA-registered crypto asset firm Robinhood bought for $200 million last year. The integration gives the company a regulated route into UK digital asset trading without building an exchange operation from scratch, and lets it offer crypto to customers who already use Robinhood for other investments.

For now, the UK crypto service has no trading, account maintenance or custody fees. Users will still pay a 0.1% foreign exchange fee, rising to 0.3% for certain weekend conversions. Robinhood noted that crypto held through Bitstamp UK is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme or the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Jordan Sinclair, president of Robinhood UK Ltd and general manager of Bitstamp UK Ltd, said a new wave of UK investors sees digital assets as part of a diversified portfolio and described the launch as another step toward becoming an all-in-one investment platform.

Beyond execution

The rollout also includes Cortex Digests for Crypto, an AI feature that draws on news, market data, technical indicators and Robinhood's own data to explain factors affecting crypto prices. Robinhood is separately expanding its blockchain infrastructure with Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based Layer 2 network. Since its July 1 launch, the network has generated more than $18 billion in decentralized exchange trading volume and exceeded $478 million in total value locked; CEO Vlad Tenev said it was the fastest EVM-compatible blockchain to reach 100 million transactions.

The UK push comes as crypto transaction revenue weakens. Robinhood reported $100 million in Q2 crypto transaction revenue on July 29, down 38% from the same period in 2025. Prediction markets generated $156 million in the quarter, ahead of crypto, and event contracts brought in $147 million in Q1 versus crypto's $134 million. The figures underscore the company's effort to reduce reliance on any single trading category by combining brokerage, crypto, AI tools and blockchain services in one app. Whether UK users adopt crypto in meaningful numbers and trade more across other products remains the key test.
