Robinhood Chain TVL Jumps 32% Despite Flat Daily Active…

Robinhood Chain hit record daily transactions and TVL rose 32% to $473M, but active accounts grew only 3.3%, widening the gap between network activity and user growth.

Robinhood Chain set a new activity record last week, averaging 11.6 million daily transactions, roughly 30% above the prior week's daily average. Total value locked also advanced sharply, climbing 32% week over week to $473 million.

Active accounts, however, tell a more subdued story. The average number of daily active accounts rose just 3.3% from the previous week and sat 11% below the July 16 peak. A one-day bump on Thursday, following Robinhood's listing of the Cashcat memecoin for spot trading, was not enough to shift the weekly average.

The divergence implies the extra activity is coming primarily from users who were already on the network. Existing accounts appear to be trading more frequently and putting more capital to work, even as the active user base remains roughly unchanged.

Activity vs. adoption

Transaction counts can be a useful gauge of blockchain usage, but they do not by themselves prove adoption. A relatively small set of active traders, automated strategies or applications can generate millions of transactions without a comparable rise in unique users.

That distinction is relevant to Robinhood Chain because transaction growth has comfortably outpaced account growth. If the pattern continues, the network could keep posting record volumes while relying on largely the same pool of participants.

The composition of stablecoins on the chain is also shifting. Robinhood Chain now holds about $253 million of USDe, representing roughly 43% of the network's stablecoin supply. A month ago, USDe stood at only $17 million and the native USDG was the dominant stablecoin.

USDe is a synthetic dollar designed to generate yield, rather than acting purely as a cash-like settlement asset. That may help explain why TVL is rising faster than user counts: yield-bearing capital tends to remain parked rather than moving frequently between wallets. The rapid build-up also makes the chain more sensitive to how USDe behaves, since changes in its yield, liquidity or demand could have a larger impact on TVL than they did a month ago.

What to watch

The key test is whether current users are simply becoming more active or whether the network can convert that activity into sustained account growth. Daily active accounts will therefore matter as much as transaction volume in the coming weeks.

If accounts begin to climb alongside elevated transaction counts, the surge would look like broader adoption. If they stay flat, the network may be developing around a concentrated group of high-frequency users.

USDe flows also bear watching. Continued growth could push TVL higher even without stronger account creation, while withdrawals could quickly unwind part of the recent increase. For now, Robinhood Chain is showing strong capital and transaction growth, but far weaker growth in the number of people generating that activity.
