Robinhood Added About $11.7 Billion in a Day and Outran…

Robinhood closed Friday at $108.13, up 13.7%, adding about $11.7B in market value as Bitcoin's rally lifted crypto-linked broker stocks.
Robinhood Markets closed Friday at $108.13, up 13.7%, after a session that stretched as high as $109.71. The gain lifted the brokerage's market capitalization from about $85.5 billion to $97.2 billion, adding roughly $11.7 billion in a single day. More than 50 million shares changed hands.
Bitcoin rose about 6.4% Friday and ended above $77,000, putting its weekly gain above 20%. Coinbase also advanced 8.2% to $186.49, while the S&P 500 gained 0.43% to close at 7,674.37. The outsized moves in broker equities show how crypto-linked companies can amplify moves in the underlying asset.
When Bitcoin prices rise, investors begin pricing in higher customer engagement, larger trading volumes and stronger future transaction revenue. Robinhood does not earn crypto transaction revenue just because Bitcoin becomes more valuable; it needs customers to trade. That operating leverage can push the stock further than the asset itself when sentiment turns sharply positive.
The rally was supported by two Washington catalysts. At a White House meeting Wednesday with crypto executives and regulators, President Donald Trump pushed Congress to advance the CLARITY Act, the market-structure legislation sought by much of the industry. SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Chair Michael Selig attended, alongside Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong. Prediction-market firms did not participate, according to a White House official. Separately, the Treasury Department said it would double certain long-duration debt buybacks to $4 billion per operation, which pushed long-term yields lower and weakened the dollar, helping underpin Bitcoin's advance.
The stock move reflects a bet that August user activity will look much stronger than recent months. Robinhood's second-quarter results showed crypto transaction revenue of $100 million, down 38% year over year, even as total company revenue rose 32% to a record $1.31 billion. Crypto notional trading volume, including Bitstamp, totaled $40 billion in the quarter. In July, crypto notional volume fell 33% from June to $10.9 billion, and was down 62% year over year.
Robinhood's revenue mix has become more diversified. In the second quarter, options revenue reached $342 million, event contracts generated $156 million and equities brought in $129 million, while crypto contributed $100 million. That reduces dependence on Bitcoin, but Friday's double-digit rise shows investors still assign significant crypto beta to HOOD when sentiment turns higher. The key test now is whether Bitcoin can keep its weekly gains and whether Robinhood's August trading data confirms the market's enthusiasm.
