Reuters Links Trump Crypto Project WLFI to Chinese AI Developers
Reuters reported that World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture linked to the Trump family, is working with Hong Kong-based WorldClaw, which provides access to AI models from sanctioned Chinese companies.
Reuters reported that World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a crypto platform affiliated with the family of U.S. President Donald Trump, is cooperating with Hong Kong-based WorldClaw. The service provides access to AI models from Alibaba, Baidu, Z.ai and other Chinese companies, many of which appear on Pentagon or Commerce Department sanctions lists.
WorldClaw has described itself as independent, but WLFI’s head of growth Ryan Fan previously served as an adviser to the company, and Trump’s sons actively promoted the project. Observers contacted by Reuters called the arrangement hypocritical given the administration’s hawkish stance toward China, while noting there are no actual legal violations in the partnership.
Separately, a U.S. financial regulator has preliminarily approved the creation of the World Liberty trust bank, even as some senators demand that the president and his family be barred from owning banks.
