Quantus CEO: First Quantum Attack on Crypto Might Be Disguised as Key Leak
Quantus Network's Christopher Smith says the first quantum attack on the crypto industry could go unnoticed, appearing as an ordinary key leak. He believes Satoshi's sleeping bitcoins, valued at $65B, are not the primary target.
The first quantum attack against the crypto sector may be missed entirely, according to Christopher Smith, co-founder and CEO of Quantus Network. Smith suggested that such an attack could be blamed on a routine compromise of private keys, masking the true nature of the breach.
In Smith's view, the roughly $65 billion in bitcoin attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto that remain untouched will not be the chief objective for attackers. Instead, malicious actors are more likely to prioritize military systems, state secrets, or the administrative keys of crypto projects. The comment highlights a perceived shift in risk, where high-value dormant wallets might be less enticing than infrastructure that holds broader control.
