Pentagon orders use of AI, cyber ops to fight election interference

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has directed the Pentagon to use intelligence, cyber operations, and advanced AI to detect and disrupt foreign interference in upcoming U.S. elections.

The September 22 directive tasks U.S. Cyber Command and Defense Intelligence agencies with monitoring foreign threats and countering election-related cyberattacks, Axios reported.

It also calls for coordination with the Department of Homeland Security as part of the effort to protect U.S. elections from foreign interference.

The order expands the Pentagon's focus on election security through advanced AI and cyber capabilities.
