Pasqal Traps Rubidium Atoms on Photonic Chip for Scalable Quantum Computing
French quantum startup Pasqal successfully trapped rubidium atoms used as qubits with a photonic chip, advancing compact and scalable quantum systems.
Pasqal has demonstrated the first successful trapping of atomic qubits using a photonic chip. The chip created four optical traps that held rubidium atoms, which serve as qubits in quantum processors.
The technique could simplify the design of more compact and scalable quantum computers. Pasqal aims to eventually control over 10,000 atoms with this method, significantly expanding computational power.
