OpenAI unveils Dots AI agents and GPT-6.1 Sol at DevDay

OpenAI introduced Dots, AI agents that remember context and work autonomously offline, and released the GPT-6.1 Sol model, which is far cheaper but nearly matches its flagship Astra on some tasks.

OpenAI used its DevDay event to announce roughly 20 product updates in a single day.

Among the key reveals were Dots, AI agents designed to retain context and continue working on tasks even when the user is offline. The company also released GPT-6.1 Sol, a model that in several tasks comes close to the flagship Astra while costing about five times less.

The update did not include additional details on other DevDay announcements or user reception.
