OKX Money Lets Users Convert 50+ Local Currencies Into…

OKX has launched OKX Money, a standalone consumer finance app that converts more than 50 local currencies into stablecoins, pays up to 10% APY on USDG and offers Mastercard spending cards.

OKX has introduced OKX Money, a standalone consumer finance app that lets eligible customers convert more than 50 local currencies into dollar-backed stablecoins, earn rewards on their balances and spend through virtual or physical cards. The product marks a further step by the exchange beyond trading into everyday payments.

The app supports USDG, USDC and USDT, and OKX says customers can switch between the supported stablecoins without conversion fees. Cards are accepted internationally through Mastercard's merchant network, with the company stating it charges no foreign-exchange fee or conversion markup when a purchase is made in a different currency.

Rewards come with conditions

Eligible customers can receive as much as 10% annual percentage yield on qualifying USDG balances, without staking or locking their funds, and up to 10% cashback on qualifying purchases. OKX notes that rates, eligibility and product availability vary by market and by customer. The USDG programme is structured as a rewards arrangement whose rate OKX sets and can change or discontinue under its terms, meaning the advertised 10% is a promotional maximum rather than the yield generated by the reserves behind the token. The same caveat applies to the cashback ceiling.

Positioned less as a crypto wallet than as a digital-dollar account, OKX Money plays down blockchain terminology in favour of balances, payments, cards and rewards. The company says roughly 70% of the customers it is targeting have never used a crypto application. Users fund the account with a supported local currency and receive dollar-backed stablecoins, rather than acquiring tokens through a conventional exchange interface. The approach targets markets where dollar account access can be limited, local currencies may be volatile and cross-border card spending often carries material FX costs.

The consumer push follows OKX's expansion into regulated payments infrastructure. In February the company obtained a Payment Institution licence in Malta, allowing it to broaden stablecoin payment services across Europe alongside its existing crypto authorisation. OKX Money is launching in participating markets, with the company saying it intends to widen availability as it gains operating experience.

It arrives as stablecoin-linked cards become a clearer route from crypto balances to everyday spending power. Stablecoin card spending rose about 105% year on year, with particularly strong adoption in Latin America, and cumulative deposits into tracked crypto card programmes later exceeded $10bn in 2026. Visa's stablecoin settlement volume reached a $20bn annualised run rate by September, with more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programmes active on its network. Binance has also identified payments and broader financial services as a significant source of future growth.
