NY Fed Survey Shows Modest Ease in Short-Term Inflation Expectations

Households' one-year inflation expectations dipped to 3.6% in June, while medium- and longer-term views held steady, the New York Fed's Consumer Expectations Survey showed.

The New York Fed's latest Survey of Consumer Expectations revealed a slight decline in short-term inflation outlook. One-year-ahead expectations eased from 3.7% in June to 3.6%.

Medium- and longer-term inflation expectations remained unchanged over the same period. The survey is closely watched for signals on consumer price sentiment and potential policy implications.

The modest pullback in the near-term view suggests households see some cooling of price pressures, though the stability at longer horizons indicates entrenched expectations in line with the Fed's 2% target.
