"Nobody Knew Prop Trading": Fintokei Declares $15M in Payouts as It Marks Three Years in Japan
Czech prop trading firm Fintokei celebrates three years in Japan, disclosing over $15 million in trader payouts. The firm credits deep localization and tax compliance for its success in a market where prop trading was unknown.
Czech prop trading firm Fintokei has announced that it has paid out more than $15 million to Japanese traders since entering the market three years ago. The milestone comes as the company, backed by CFD broker Purple Trading, marks its third anniversary in Japan, a country where the concept of prop trading had virtually no name recognition when it launched in early 2023.
According to CEO David Varga, Japanese traders were slow to adopt the model, but the firm’s strategy of deep localization paid off. Fintokei invested in native Japanese-speaking support, local marketing partners, in-person events, and a product structure tailored to local trading habits. The result is a community of thousands of prop traders across Japan, with an average individual payout approaching $4,000.
Varga noted that Japanese traders are outperforming their European counterparts in both payout frequency and value, attributing this to their discipline and precision. In October 2024, he revealed that 60% of the platform’s then 20,000-plus traders were based in Japan. He also criticized competitors for lacking proper local customer support, often relying on AI or machine translation.
Fintokei also emphasizes its compliance posture. The firm says it is VAT-registered in Japan and has paid local taxes from day one, a move Varga suggests most prop firms avoid. "We have deliberately invested significant effort and money in establishing a robust framework to ensure regulatory compliance, local awareness, and stability for our customers," he said. The firm works with Japanese legal and tax advisers, a structural investment many competitors skip.
The firm’s payout record is a cornerstone of its positioning. After launching instant withdrawals in mid-2025, Fintokei claims a 99.9% withdrawal success rate and says it has never rejected a legitimate payout request. One trader has logged 120 separate payouts, while another collected over $360,000 in total rewards. The firm manages risk upstream by flagging high-risk behavior during evaluation and capping leverage before funding.
Varga has been a vocal critic of prop trading industry excesses, calling it "gone a little too wild" in competition and practices. He argues that broker-backed prop firms like Fintokei offer a more sustainable model with aligned incentives. The firm expanded beyond Japan and Central Europe in 2024, targeting Australia, broader Europe, and Southeast Asia. However, Japan remains its biggest and most important market.
The firm’s revenue rose 13-fold in 2024, with active traders surging 175%, according to the source. Industry data from Prop Firm Match tracked roughly $325 million in total payouts across the sector in 2025, though that figure excluded major players such as FTMO and The5ers.
