No New U.S.-Iran Direct Talks Planned, Officials Contradict Trump

U.S. and Iranian officials have denied plans for new direct negotiations, stating only existing indirect talks continue, after Trump’s comments suggested an imminent deal.

U.S. officials have clarified that no new direct negotiations with Iran are currently planned, despite recent remarks by former President Trump hinting at an imminent deal. The existing indirect talks, conducted through mediators, are continuing with a U.S. team that includes Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and other officials.

Iran’s foreign ministry also pushed back, stating there are no plans for direct talks with Washington and rejecting Trump’s claim of a nearing agreement. The statements underscore a gap between the public comments and the actual diplomatic situation.

For now, diplomacy remains confined to indirect channels, with no schedule for new or direct discussions.
