Nexo Reaffirms EU Compliance

Nexo has confirmed its product compliance across the European Economic Area, ahead of MiCAR's enforcement, using a licensed-partner model with Tangany and DLT Finance.

Nexo, a digital assets wealth platform, has reaffirmed that its products meet regulatory requirements across the European Economic Area (EEA), ahead of the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) taking full effect. The company is operating through two MiCAR-licensed partners that provide separate custody and brokerage infrastructure.

The setup splits key functions between Tangany and DLT Finance. Tangany, a BaFin-regulated and MiCAR-licensed custody provider based in Munich, handles institutional-grade custody for digital assets. DLT Finance, which holds both a MiCAR license and a MiFID II authorization, provides brokerage infrastructure for digital assets and financial instruments. Together, the two firms support Nexo's global wealth platform with a Europe-specific infrastructure layer.

Nexo Chief Product Officer Yasen Yankov said the firm had been preparing for MiCAR for an extended period. "When it came to choosing DLT Finance and Tangany, the standard was non-negotiable: our partners are best-in-class – rigorously regulated, technically sophisticated, and aligned with how we think about client protection," he stated. Yankov added that following a robust testing phase, all Nexo services are now offered without disruption.

Martin Kreitmair, CEO of Tangany, described the collaboration as a blueprint for institutions navigating the European market under MiCAR. Alan Kennedy, Senior Partnerships Manager at DLT Finance, said his firm provides the financial market infrastructure and execution capabilities needed for a seamless user experience.

As of Q3 2025, Nexo ranks among the top three largest centralized crypto lenders globally by volume. The company manages over $7 billion in client assets and has processed more than $430 billion since its launch in 2018. With its licensed-partner model now in place, Nexo intends to remain a major player in the European digital asset wealth space under the new regulatory framework.
