New Listing: Dogecoin (DOGE)

Australian crypto exchange BTC Markets will list Dogecoin (DOGE) in March 2026, enabling DOGE/AUD spot trading. The meme-inspired token remains among the largest cryptocurrencies by market cap.
Australian cryptocurrency exchange BTC Markets has announced it will list Dogecoin (DOGE), with trading in the DOGE/AUD pair starting in March 2026. The addition gives Australian customers direct access to one of the best-known meme-inspired digital assets.
Dogecoin launched in December 2013 as a parody of Bitcoin, created by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. Despite its humorous origins, it developed a large community and eventually became one of the top cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Public endorsements, including from Elon Musk, helped boost its profile; Musk has described it as "the people's crypto." Both founders later stepped back from active development.
Technically, Dogecoin operates on a proof-of-work blockchain similar to Bitcoin's, but with a target block time of around one minute, making it faster for everyday transactions. Its supply is uncapped, with new DOGE continuously issued as mining rewards. The inflationary design is intended to encourage spending rather than long-term holding, supporting use cases such as tipping, donations and small online payments.
BTC Markets noted that Dogecoin's open-source development and active community keep it compatible with major wallets and payment processors. The exchange described the token's low fees and approachable design as a simple entry point for newcomers to digital assets.
The new listing is part of BTC Markets' effort to expand its digital asset offering for Australian investors. DOGE/AUD trading is expected to go live in March 2026. The exchange said the information is general in nature and not intended as financial advice. Further details, such as the exact listing date and trading features, have not yet been announced.
