New Listing: BNB

Australian crypto exchange BTC Markets has added BNB, the native asset of the BNB Smart Chain ecosystem, to its platform. The token launched in 2017 and is used for fees, staking and DeFi.

Australian cryptocurrency exchange BTC Markets has added BNB to its list of supported assets, giving customers access to the native token of the BNB Smart Chain ecosystem. BNB is among the most widely used digital assets in the market and one of the largest by market capitalisation.

BNB originally launched in 2017 alongside Binance, one of the world’s major crypto exchanges. At launch, it was issued as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network before later migrating to its own blockchain ecosystem as the network expanded.

Over time, BNB’s role has moved well beyond exchange-related use. The introduction of BNB Smart Chain brought smart contract functionality, allowing developers to build decentralised applications, blockchain games, DeFi protocols and token projects on the network. BNB also operates a token burn mechanism designed to reduce circulating supply over time, which has become a key part of its long-term economic model.

How BNB is used

On the BNB Smart Chain, BNB serves as the core asset for paying network transaction fees, participating in staking, interacting with decentralised applications and accessing blockchain-based services. The network supports smart contracts, enabling applications that run without central intermediaries, including decentralised exchanges, lending protocols, NFT marketplaces and gaming platforms.

The platform is designed for lower-cost and faster transactions compared with many older blockchain systems, a factor that has driven adoption among developers and users. BNB also supports validator participation and ecosystem incentives aimed at maintaining network activity and security.

BTC Markets said the information about BNB is general in nature and not intended as financial advice. The listing adds a token with broad utility across DeFi, staking, payments and blockchain infrastructure to the exchange’s product range.
