New EEA futures traders: no trading fees for your first 30 days

Kraken is waiving taker and maker fees on up to $10 million in futures volume for new EEA traders during their first 30 days. The offer covers 300+ perpetual pairs with up to 10x leverage.
Kraken has launched a promotional program for new futures traders in the European Economic Area, offering zero trading fees for the first 30 days. Eligible clients pay no taker fees on up to $10 million in volume and also receive zero maker fees during the introductory period.
The offer applies to clients who are new to Kraken futures and based in the EEA. The exchange supports more than 300 perpetual futures pairs, enabling traders to go long or short with leverage up to 10x. Perpetual contracts have no expiry, allowing positions to be held indefinitely.
Kraken has been operating since 2011. It is MiCA-authorized through the Central Bank of Ireland and holds a MiFID license for derivatives via the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). From July 1, 2026, MiCA will set operational standards across Europe; Kraken notes it has been compliant well ahead of the deadline.
The promotion is intended to attract existing spot traders to explore futures, a product that enables hedging, shorting, and leveraged exposure. Kraken highlights that users can maintain their spot positions while opening futures trades on other assets. For example, instead of selling Bitcoin to buy Ethereum, a trader could open a long Ethereum perpetual position with a fraction of the capital.
Other fees, such as funding rates for perpetuals, may still apply. The exchange also points to its independent Proof of Reserves and long-standing security track record as supporting infrastructure for futures trading.
To access the offer, existing Kraken users need to enable futures within their account. Activation takes only a few minutes, after which the 30-day fee-free window begins. Geographic restrictions and full terms apply; the promotion is limited to eligible EEA clients who have not previously traded futures on the platform.
The derivatives services are provided by Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited, regulated by CySEC. Spot trading is offered separately by Payward Europe Solutions Limited, regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
