MEXC and Sumsub Partner to Strengthen Global Compliance and Combat Identity Fraud

MEXC has partnered with Sumsub to integrate AI-powered verification tools aimed at preventing deepfake impersonation and onboarding fraud, addressing the rising threat of AI-driven cybercrime in crypto.

MEXC, the zero-fee digital asset exchange serving over 40 million users globally, has announced a strategic partnership with Sumsub, a verification and fraud prevention provider. The collaboration aims to strengthen compliance and tackle the growing risk of AI-driven identity fraud, including deepfake impersonation and remote onboarding scams.

According to Sumsub's latest Identity Fraud Report, multi-step fraud attacks powered by generative AI increased 180% year-on-year globally in 2025. The report highlights how illicit actors are using AI to bypass traditional KYC measures, prompting platforms like MEXC to adopt more dynamic defenses.

As part of the partnership, MEXC is integrating Sumsub's full verification suite into its KYC process. This includes ID verification, biometric liveness checks, address verification, database validation, and source-of-funds checks. The upgrade moves MEXC beyond one-time onboarding checks to continuous identity verification throughout the user lifecycle.

Vugar Usi, Chief Operating Officer of MEXC, said the collaboration reflects the exchange's commitment to enhancing identity assurance. "As fraud tactics become increasingly sophisticated, strengthening how platforms verify users is no longer optional—it is fundamental to maintaining trust," he stated. "We see identity verification not as a single checkpoint, but as an ongoing process."

Ilya Brovin, Chief Growth Officer at Sumsub, noted that crypto is entering a phase of regulated maturity. "In this environment, verification can no longer function as a one-time checkpoint—it must operate as a continuous, adaptive layer across the user lifecycle," he said. Sumsub's technology supports automated verification with real-time risk signals, helping MEXC balance security with a seamless user experience.

MEXC operates across more than 170 markets and offers trading in over 3,000 digital assets. By embedding advanced document analysis and risk-based workflows, the exchange aims to maintain market integrity while aligning with global AML and KYC standards.
