Mercado Bitcoin Leads Brazil's Tokenization Market with R$284 Million in Q1 Assets

Mercado Bitcoin distributed R$284 million in tokenized real-world assets in Q1 2026, a 15% year-on-year increase, capturing 76% of the Brazilian retail tokenization market.

Mercado Bitcoin, the Latin American digital asset platform, led the Brazilian market for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization in the first quarter of 2026, distributing R$284 million (approximately $56 million) in tokenized assets across 99 offerings. The volume represents a 15% increase over the same period in 2025, when the platform distributed R$245 million.

According to data from RWA Monitor, Mercado Bitcoin's share accounted for 76% of all retail tokenized asset distributions in Brazil during the quarter. The retail segment includes offerings aligned with CVM Resolution 88, which regulates public offerings via digital platforms.

“The tokenization market continues to grow rapidly in Brazil, driven by investor and corporate interest in more accessible, efficient, and transparent capital solutions,” said André Gouvinhas, VP of Investment & Banking at Mercado Bitcoin. “Mercado Bitcoin has been the pioneering tokenizer in the country since 2019 and has played a central role in this advance by continuously expanding its asset offerings and contributing to market infrastructure development.”

Gouvinhas noted that the typical investor in Digital Fixed Income on the platform is aged 36–45, predominantly male, and located in Brazil's southeast and south regions.

Growth Trajectory

Since launching its tokenization operations in 2019, Mercado Bitcoin has issued over 800 tokenized assets, totaling R$2.5 billion in distributed volume. In 2025 alone, the company facilitated 359 distributions worth R$1.2 billion. Despite a more challenging macroeconomic environment in early 2026, the company posted a 15% year-on-year gain in Q1 volume.

The tokenized assets distributed in the quarter included investments such as consortium shares, receivables anticipation, collateralized credit, and judicial assets. All were made available to retail investors directly through the Mercado Bitcoin app and via advisory channels, broadening access to digital assets previously limited to niche segments of traditional finance.

According to RWA Monitor, the entire Brazilian tokenized asset market moved more than R$410 million in Q1 2026. Globally, a study by Ripple and BCG projects that the tokenized asset market could reach $9.4 trillion by 2030. Tokenization involves the digital representation of real-world assets on blockchain, enabling more efficient, traceable, and liquid trading of receivables, private credit, real estate, and other financial instruments.
