Korbit to Commercialize Stablecoin Payments via Galaxia Moneytree Partnership

South Korea's first crypto exchange, Korbit, is teaming up with fintech firm Galaxia Moneytree to enable stablecoin-based payments through the Moneytree app, aiming to bring virtual assets into everyday commerce.
South Korea's first virtual asset exchange, Korbit, announced on April 10 that it will launch a stablecoin-based payment service in partnership with electronic financial service provider Galaxia Moneytree. The two companies have signed a business agreement to link Korbit’s trading infrastructure with Galaxia Moneytree’s “Moneytree” app.
The initiative aims to make virtual assets usable for everyday payments. Under the plan, users will be able to top up their Moneytree Cash balance using cryptocurrencies held on Korbit, and then spend that balance at merchants affiliated with the Moneytree network. The service will leverage stablecoins to facilitate top-up, payment, and settlement flows.
Korbit and Galaxia Moneytree intend to proceed cautiously, validating the service and operational framework through gradual proof-of-concept (PoC) stages before moving to a phased commercial rollout. A Korbit representative said the exchange will “enhance the user experience based on a stable trading infrastructure and expand the range of use for virtual assets.”
Galaxia Moneytree, an established electronic payment service provider, operates the Moneytree app, which already serves a network of merchants in South Korea. By integrating with Korbit, the app would become a conduit for crypto-to-fiat conversions for retail purchases.
The partnership marks another step in the growing convergence of crypto exchanges and traditional payment platforms in Asia, particularly in South Korea, where regulatory clarity around digital assets has enabled experimentation with real-world use cases.
