Japanese Yen Weakens Toward 160 per Dollar, Commerzbank Notes

The Japanese yen has depreciated past 159 versus the dollar, moving back toward the 160 level despite recent intervention and Bank of Japan actions, according to Commerzbank analyst Volkmar Baur.

USDJPY

The Japanese yen has weakened again, trading above 159 per US dollar and heading back toward the 160 mark, Commerzbank analyst Volkmar Baur noted. This decline occurs despite recent currency intervention by Japanese authorities and steps taken by the Bank of Japan.

The move signals persistent downward pressure on the yen, as market forces appear to outweigh official efforts to stem the depreciation. The USD/JPY pair remains elevated, with traders testing the resolve of policymakers near the psychologically important 160 level.
